About us

Cape Vulture Lodge operates as a non-profit organisation which practices environmental conservation whilst uplifting communities. It aims to restore and maintain the Reserve’s ecosystem, make meaningful contributions to conservation science, and improve the livelihoods of its neighbouring communities. Cape Vulture has been a model for integrating conservation and community development by pioneering the way in Food security, sustainability and protection of indigenous wildlife alongside community development programs that educate and support future generations. The 3 pillars of the company; Education, Employment and Conservation, were developed with sustainability in mind and the lodge was built with the purpose of supporting the future of this project. 

It was founded in 2021 when the land was bought privately, and the project began. The project is fully funded by 

Werner and Violanta Ruedy from Switzerland ( pictured above), who own a Trust called FSI. 

Fondation pour une Solidarite International persues exclusively charitable purposes, primarily the promotion of science, culture, education and humanitarian development aid. The Vision they had was to protect the flaura and fauna found in this part of Limpopo and work closely with the community for the benefit of Future generations to come. With a focus on sustainability, there are key focuses such as Food security, Waste management, water use and conservation of flora and fauna. The financial input from the Foundation is the key component to realising the Vision for Cape Vulture Nature Reserve. In the short amount of time since inception, Cape Vulture Lodge and Nature Reserve has already come a long way in the steps of achieving self sustainability and we are proud to invite you to come and visit our wonderful Reserve. Your participation by doing activities or staying here contributes directly to the success of the project.
